Hualien, a beautiful park, paradise on earth, is the most precious treasures of us from the nature. HLEPB reminds all to treature it, to maintain cleanness, so that Hualien can keep its beauty forever.

As Taiwan people's average income has increased dramatically in recent years, higher living standards have prompted the nation's citizens to demand improvements in their living environments, thereby elevating general awareness of the issue of environmental protection and its importance as an object of government action. AS a county largely dependent upon tourism, Hualian recognizes clearly the vaule of protecting our natural environment. We continue to promote the work of nature conservation as a requisite to the continued success of tourism-related enterprise.

At present, the Bureau comprises four sections, including Integrated Planning, Air and Noise Pollution Control, Waste Management, and Water Pollution Prevention; four offices, including Administration, Accounting, Personnel, and Civil Service Ethics, one inspection team and one Environmental Science & Technology Park, which handles pollution-related issues in air, noise, water, toxic chemicals, and wastes, as well as regular inspection, control, and testing duties. All these services we provide are essential to citizens' everyday living, and thus are of primary importance. We endeavor to improve the lives of the citizenry, and are undertaken in a determined and efficient manner to safeguard people's rights as well as environmental protection. It is our aim to maintain a pure and healthy environment for future generations.
